CONFORMAL COATINGS

Conformal Coatings are used to protect rigid and flexible printed circuit boards from environmental contaminants and vibration. QSi's products are very low viscosity, one-component, thermally cured elastomers. These conformal coating products have excellent dielectric properties and can withstand temperatures from -60 to 240C.

The conformal coating material is applied to electronic circuitry to act as protection against moisture, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes that if not using conformal coatings could result in a complete failure of the electronic system. Precision analog circuitry may suffer degraded accuracy if insulating surfaces become contaminated with ionic substances such as fingerprint residues, which can become weakly conductive in the presence of moisture.
